About Rift Royale:
I’ve recently installed Port Royale 2 for old times’ sake. Playing Port Royale 2 made me realize how superior of a product that older game is. Not only is the UI a hundred times better AND has more functionality, everything is displayed more nicely, you get a better overview. It has much much more charme than this game. Playing Port Royale 2 feels more satisfying, both in setting up production chains, supplying cities and trading. I can only recommend you to go play Port Royale 2 and see for yourself. But buy it on GOG, not on steam, because the steam version of Port Royale 2 has apparently some serious issues with Windows 10. I can vouch that the GOG version runs smoothly. It is honestly a shame how this went. I’m fairly sure the developer has abandoned the product so no more DLC. The turn-based combat was.. crap. I doubt they’ll reinvest into this franchise again soon but I really hope they do and with the next iteration stay more true to the original. No turn-based combat, keep the cities and towns and campaign map the same as it always has been. Maybe expand a little on town development, expand on content allowing you to be a buccaneer or outright pirate who holds no quarter to no one.. ability to build up a ripe proper pirate town of your own. I feel admittedly that PR4 has everything except the combat right, but deserved more love, more updates, and more expansions to further expand the content and features it already has. The turn based combat on a real time campaign map i think just let everyone down in the end.
