After playing the ♥♥♥♥ out of half a dozen The Show’s, I reluctantly gave this a try. I immediately hated the cartoonish look and abandoned it. Months later I decided to give it one more shot, and man, I’m glad I did. it turns out it’s just a whole lot of fun. It’s not a The-Show-type perfect baseball simulator, but for a baseball game, it’s incredibly accessible and satisfying. Multiplayer modes are seamlessly integrated so that games can be found for you while you play single player, it’s very slick. I also imagine this game is especially fun if you have buddies to play with online. Get the demo, play it for twenty or thirty minutes, you’ll have a pretty good idea of whether it’s for you. Just don’t get hung up on the graphics or goofiness before giving it a fair shake. Perfect mixture of arcade style baseball gameplay like The Bigs, but realistic enough to provide a real challenge if you bump your difficulty up. The depth of the Franchise mode provides total control of the team, and gives room for hundreds of hours of gameplay taking a team through multiple seasons. Not to mention the co-op franchise mode which my friend and I have found to be an awesome alternative to playing head to head Highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a quality baseball game that is both excellent for simulation and player controlled games! With a series like this, differences between entries can be minimal. Since I went into some depth on the gameplay systems in my review for Super Mega Baseball 2, I’d rather not do that here.
